**** BETA RELEASE -- READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS PROGRAM ****
This is a BETA RELEASE of the XferQ queue management system.
Hopefully the name of this file wasn't too drastic. I have to be
sure that users catch up on the latest developments somehow. I will
say this once, and once only: every time you get a new release, read
this file. It will point to other recent changes. Also go through
doc/changelog. Not reading the latest documentation could cause you
much grief.
XferQ has been in service for a few weeks now, and most nasty bugs
are gone. This release offers no substantial new features, just bug
fixes and documentation upgrades, primarily in response to feedback
from users.
The autodocs were reformatted to conform to CBM's autodoc format, so
autodoc utilities should work on them. In addition, more ARexx
documentation has been added.
A few users complained that the ANSI formatting used in the documentation
got in their way. I feel that for the developer's documentation at least,
the ANSI formatting conveys context information that would be otherwise
lost, and I have left the documentation the way it is. However, to
satisfy those who wrote me, I've provided a "noANSI" binary and script
file which strips out the ANSI characters to leave you with two sets
of documentation to use as you please.
This release incorporates new debugging capabilities. I added these
to find bugs reported by local testers, but there is no reason why
they cannot be used by network testers. Due to deficiencies in
bug reports submitted in the past, I am enforcing a strict bug
reporting procedure. "Support.doc" has been updated to reflect this;
you are well advised to read this document before using this program.
